The next Green Busienss Fund workshop will be in Charolotte on November 12th. Please view the registration information for more details!
December 1st - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cape Fear Community College North Campus Auditorium in Wilmington. The event is free but requires attendees to register.
December 2nd - Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College - Enka Campus from 9:30 to 4:30 in the Haynes Building. Registration information TBA.
December 13th - Western Wake Technical Community College from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room #118. The event is free; but limited to 80 seats. To register for the workshop, please send an email to caroix@waketech.edu. ( Map and directions to Western Wake Technical Community College).

| Future North Carolina Green Business Fund Workshops |
In collaboration with several sponsoring state agencies, the Board will hold three North Carolina Green Business Fund grant workshops:
* Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Land-of-Sky Regional Council offices in Asheville, NC. The workshop is now full! However, please register to be placed on a waiting list for the October 21st workshop in Asheville, NC. The North Carolina Small Business Technology Development Center will hold a series of workshops across the state to inform and educate North Carolina small business owners
about federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants. Small businesses who apply and secure these federal grants may qualify for One North Carolina Small
Business
Program funds.

| Appalachain State University Energy Center Hosts NC Green Business Fund Grant Workshop |
A grant workshop focusing on the North Carolina Green Business Fund (NCGBF) will be hosted by the Appalachian State University Energy Center August 12th at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center on campus. The grant workshop begins with a general grant writing session and concludes with a session focused on applying the general grant writing information to the N.C. Green Business Fund.
The event is free; however, seating is limited to 40 participants so registration is required. Registration information is available on the Energy Center’s Web site at www.energy.appstate.edu. Lunch will be available for purchase at the Broyhill Inn.

| Dr. Sharlini Sankaran joins NCBST |
| The Board of Science & Technology welcomes Dr. Sharlini Sankaran as Assistant Director and Research Manager. Dr. Sankaran's research interests include science policy, technology transfer, workforce retraining, and increasing female and minority participation in science and engineering. Prior to joining the Department of Commerce, she worked as a consultant for the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, evaluating the outcomes of their multidisciplinary Institutional Awards at the Scientific Interface. Her work was presented to a subcommittee of the National Academies of Science. More> |
